History of SHEDCO
In 2012 SHEDCO was formally incorporated by individuals from across the county that began working towards a common goal of increased economic development. Since its incorporation SHEDCO has taken on the important tasks of working with the Save the VA Committee and the Veterans Enterprises subcommittee to assess opportunities involving the employment of area veterans. Likewise, SHEDCO has become a member of many area business organizations including the Rushmore Region, an organization dedicated to developing marketing strategies to attract new businesses to the Black Hills. SHEDCO has also been working closely with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development to pursue business opportunities.
SHEDCO meets with businesses and entrepreneurs who are looking to start or expand a business in the area by attending conferences and responding to requests for information. SHEDCO assists local businesses with applications for grants and low interest loans, as well as working with Dakota Rising to get four Fellowships awarded to area businesses. SHEDCO is determined to continue working to promote economic interest, development, and improvement to the quality of life in the Southern Hills of South Dakota.
